Veuve Capet

Timothée Duguit and Victor Duminil, two friends very much attached to their Champagne roots, decided to produce a spirit from the grapes of the region.

Chardonnay grapes grown on the famous Côte des Blancs just south of Épernay are carefully selected to produce the range of spirits all expertly distilled by Maison Jean Goyard in Aÿ, Champagne.

The clean transparent spirit has been five times distilled to a level of 96.4% before being reduced to the desired bottling strength. This keeps all the elegant Chardonnay characteristics. A keen historian Timothée decided on the name Veuve Capet for the brand. The real Veuve Capet was Marie-Antoinette de Habsbourg Lorraine, the last Queen of France. First in the range was Veuve Capet Vodka. The French designer Sam Baron was commissioned to design the bottle to reflect the pure spirit inside drawing on an historic style of bottle as well as the words of the Widow Capet, “Tout vu tout su tout oublie”, (all seen, all known, all forgotten) stamped in the bottle base.

The theme continues with the Gin du Comte. After the fifth distillation a selection of nine botanicals are added prior to a sixth distillation. Retaining the pure clear spirit theme, the result is a unique Gin that can be as with the Vodka enjoyed as a sipping spirit, with mixers or combined in cocktails.
